Saeed Shalgouni — an Iranian Collector with Decades of Experience
Saeed Shalgouni is an Iranian collector with many years of experience, devoted to the study and preservation of carpet-weaving and embroidery traditions of Iran and Central Asia. In the Fergana Valley, he established a workshop where ancestral crafts have found a renewed voice.
The craftswomen work entirely by hand, using natural silk and plant-based dyes on cotton or silk foundations. Their embroideries reveal echoes of the Bukhara, Shakhrisabz, and Fergana schools, yet each piece carries its own distinctive aesthetic identity.
Rich symbolism, rhythmic patterning, and a refined harmony of color lend these works a particularly powerful and expressive presence.
