Erkin Rakhmatov — a Ceramic Master from Beshkent

In the Kashkadarya region, one of the most prominent masters of traditional ceramics is Erkin Rakhmatov from Beshkent. His works echo the ancient traditions of the Afrasiab school, featuring mythological birds and animals, and a palette of deep blue, green, and brown glazes.

Drawing inspiration from archaeological discoveries in Afrasiab, Surkhandarya, and Kasbi, the master creates ceramics with a distinctive and recognizable style. A special place in his practice is held by black ceramics adorned with carved and stamped ornamentation, notable for their restrained elegance and graphic strength.

Erkin Rakhmatov seamlessly weaves tradition with a contemporary sensibility, reviving forgotten techniques while inspiring a new generation of artisans.
